I live in a three-ring circus. In our tiny, happy, ivy-covered house live 5 people, two cats, a dog, and a small colony of dust bunnies. Our three energetic, mischievous boys have taken years off my life and added innumerable grey hairs to my collection, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
Life is busy; life is stressful; life is messy. But it’s the only one I’ve got, and I want to remember it the way it is. The way my precious family is now. The scraped knees, the wonder, the endless eyelashes on my babies, the mud puddles we find to play in.
When I look back on my life, I want to have shelves full of timeless, simple albums bursting with the personality of my family. I want to see US. The us we were when we were just starting out, clueless and in love. The us we were the moment we met our first son for the first time. The us we are now, a little older and hopefully wiser, with three rambunctious boys building tree forts and reading adventure stories.
I don’t want to have a computer drive of digital files, outdated and unreadable.
That’s why I’m passionate about getting tangible pictures into my clients’ hands. I believe every family needs a visual and tangible record of their story. I know in my own case, I want my kids to be surrounded by visual proof that they are loved, that they are part of something bigger than themselves, that they belong.
This is way more than a job to me. So what do I do? I photograph life.
The stolen glances, the laughter, the tears, the caught breaths. The moments in between. I’m not interested in styling you up like someone you’re not and photographing you in unnatural environments or poses.
