Don’t you hate when a blogger starts a post by apologizing for how behind they are on blogging?? Me too. And let me tell you, I was allllllmost tempted to start this post that way. But then I caught myself; is there a law that dictates the frequency with which one blogs? NO! Is there a contract I have signed somewhere that says I must blog thrice weekly or pay the penalty? I tell you, NO! HA! I am self-employed! I make the rules!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA.
I may or may not be getting off track here. You be the judge.
But back to the topic at hand – Rebecca is gorgeous. I’m always SO thrilled to photograph a Natural Beauty session, especially with a mom. As moms, we’re generally the worst at taking time for ourselves (everyone else comes first), and the hardest on ourselves (mentally and verbally flogging ourselves over baby weight, undereye bags, crow’s feet, thigh jiggle, stretch marks — the list is literally endless), and have the hardest time getting in photographs. So getting a mom into the studio sans kids, jamming to her favorite tunes, giving her professional hair and makeup by Victoria Kenyon, and shooting a relaxed session highlighting her natural beauty REALLY makes my heart sing. Getting photographs of yourself is an awesome boost to your self confidence, as well as a great day of pampering — but it’s also a beautiful part of making a visual family history for generations to come.
